Simply contact our Global Support Team with the additional scope(s) you need access to.
Yes. A common situation encountered by Developers when using the Actionstep API is around the use of permissions. Actionstep has a comprehensive and granular permission system. It is common for an API request to return a different response from that expected due to the application of permissions. This is often (incorrectly) interpreted as a bug in the API. All API requests are subject to the same permissions as a regular web interface user. If a web interface user cannot see information or does not have access to certain functionality, using the API will not change this. All API requests are made under the security context of the logged in user and thus all permissions applicable for that user are applied across all API requests. This is by design and an integral component of Actionstep's security platform.
Actionstep issues a set of API Credentials for the sandbox (development) environment and a different set of API credentials for the live (production) environment - they are not interchangable. Check you are using the right set of API Credentials for the right environment. If you continue to have problems please contact our Global Support Team for assistance.
Yes. There are often occassions when you want to test your application using some 'live' data from your production database. Although we take an initial copy of your database and place it in the sandbox when we first set you up for API access, you can request a 'refresh' from your live database at anytime. Please make such a request to the Global Support Team.
No. For security and data integrity reasons you can only a copy a database from Production to Development and not vice-versa.
Please contact our Global Support Team and provide as much detail as you can to describe the bug, the sequence of steps to replicate the bug, and any other information that will help us to investigate, isolate, and provide a resolution. Your help in this regard is very much appreciated by our Engineering Team.
Actionstep performs extensive automated security and penetration testing of our API prior to each release. We are also dependent on the tools and technologies we use to ensure our services are free from potential vulnerabilities. However, in very rare situations, a security vulnerability may come to light. If you come across a situation that you interpret as a possible vulnerability we would like to engineer a resolution as quickly as possible. Please contact our Global Support Team and provide as much detail as you can to describe the vulnerability, the sequence of steps to replicate the issue, and any other information that will help us to investigate, isolate, and provide a rapid resolution. Your help in this regard is very much appreciated by our Engineering Team.
